1. Introduction
YRP (Yokosuka Research Park) has accumulated the research and development facilities of information and communication technology focused on mobile communication. Industry, learning and research are united here as to make YRP an international research and development center for effectively cultivating talents. The Park has Yokosuka Wireless Communication Research Center of the Communications Research Laboratory (CRL), NTTDoCoMo Research and Development Center, Panasonic Communication YRP Institute, etc. Research building of the Park is directed by the Research and Development Association of YRP. At present, the numbers of association members has reached 78, among them team members are 76 and individual members 2. More than 40 information and communication technology research companies, including NTT, Panasonic, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Canon, Motorola, Nokia, Ericsson, Philips have already entered in 3 grand built-up buildings.
Ubiquitous Networking Laboratory (UNL) is located in YRP (Tokyo, Japan), and in charge of the project of “U-Japan”. The aim of UNL initiation is to realize ubiquitous computing environment and next-generation communication protocol framework, such as the incorporation microcomputer to wireless communication and sensors to realize ubiquitous network around us. Ken Sakamura, professor at the University of Tokyo and director of UNL, is the world famous founder of TRON framework, and one of the founders of the ubiquitous computing technology as well.
